About The Matthew of Bristol

Climb aboard the modern Matthew, built to celebrate the 500 year anniversary of John Cabot's famous voyage to Newfoundland in 1497, and discover the fantastic features of this reconstructed medieval sailing ship. The ship itself is free to visit, so come on board to explore the decks and learn from the knowledgable volunteers about what made the original Matthew so special. For those that want to see the ship in action, there are a number of tours that can be booked, so you can experience what it was like to voyage out on such a ship. With beverages available to purchase, sit back, relax and enjoy the beautiful views as you set sail down the Avon.
