The Eden Project has long been a staple of Cornwall, but the rich Cornish history is being celebrated between in January. Yes, the folk songs and puppet shows are just some of the celebrations being undertaken over the weekend of January 13th & 14th.

There’s been a lot of big names announced for the 2018 Eden Sessions, and another name is added to the list of acts, set to perform. Jack Johnson returns to the stage on July 5th. His debut at the event, was in 2010.

Ground-breaking band Massive Attack will be playing their only UK outdoor shows of 2018 at the Eden Sessions next summer (Friday and Saturday June 15 and 16).

The Eden Sessions returns with some very big acts next year. The summer line up is shaping up to be it’s most impressive yet! On June 20th, Björk will take the stage. Björk will perform in front of the famous Biomes and is one of only 2 shows the star will play in the UK next year.

Leading champion skater Ben Penhaligon has joined the Eden Project’s Ice Stewards to give a special and exclusive masterclass on the ice. Winning the UK Junior Pairs, Ben learned to skate on the Eden ice rink and returned to put on a special performance with steward Holly Brookes.

This year, a spectacular new light and sound show featuring lasers by renowned artist Chris Levine and original soundscapes from special guest stars will be the highlight of the Eden Project’s Christmas celebrations (beginning November 25). Festival of Light and Sound will see beautiful laser beams projected high above the outdoor gardens and the Mediterranean Biome will be filled with spellbinding patterns of light and 3D immersive sound.

On the 6th June 2018, Gary Barlow will grace the stage at the Eden Sessions for an evening of musical entertainment! One of Britain’s most loved singer-songwriters, Gary Barlow is the first artist to be announced for the series of outdoor gigs at the Eden Project, in Cornwall. Barlow is a huge success, with over 10 number one singles and six Ivor Novello awards throughout his career, solo and in Take That.

The Eden Project will take visitors on a spectacular Journey Into Space this summer (July 27 to September 3).The ambitious new season of activities features a breath-taking virtual tour of the eight planets where everyone can marvel at the wonders of the universe.Visitors on the Solar System Safari will be sent into orbit as they feel the heat of the sun, the eeriness of Mercury and the fieriness of Venus.There will also be a beautiful fly-by of Earth before landing in a lush garden of paradise to show how our planet is uniquely placed to support life.This is the first time Eden has staged Journey Into Space. Highlights include the chance to train as an astronaut and have an encounter with an alien.At the Astronaut Academy visitors can try out a Space Walk challenge in a giant inflatable and radio control an Eden space exploration vehicle.As visitors arrive for their space mission they will be greeted by a special video recording from British astronaut Tim Peake of the European Space Agency.Tim will send the wannabe astronauts on their journey with the wish that they have as much fun as he did on the International Space Station.There will also be a rare chance to see a prototype of the ExoMars rover being developed by Airbus in the UK and an exhibition of images from the Astronomy Photographer of the Year competition.In the Mediterranean Biome there will be daily talks from space experts including from the European Space Agency, National Space Centre and the Royal Observatory Greenwich.Eden’s Production Manager Chris Pritchard said: “This is going to be our biggest-ever summer of activities at Eden and everyone will have a chance to go on an exciting space odyssey to see the beauty and magnificence of all our planets.“There’ll be fun astronaut challenges to try, stimulating talks and exhibitions on space and even a chance to meet an alien – Journey Into Space is going to send you into orbit!”During Journey Into Space Eden will be open until 8pm from Mondays to Thursdays.For children with additional needs there will be relaxed space sessions on Friday and Sunday mornings.To see a video preview of Journey Into Space, see https://youtu.be/ITph9gGMy6A.For full opening hours or to buy tickets, see www.edenproject.com.

TV chef James Strawbridge has invented a range of new shakes with delicious Cornish produce and some surprise superfoods to tempt the taste-buds of Eden Project visitors next week (May 27 – June 4). The Hungry Sailors presenter’s ingenious new freakshakes have been inspired by Cornwall’s great produce and some of the exotic foods grown at Eden. Freakshakes are a cross between a drink and dessert, often topped with cream, cake or sauce. The lavish milkshake is an Australian invention but has become popular in the UK in recent months and James has been working with Trewithen Dairy on his own unique range. His healthier concoctions feature mouth-watering ingredients such as Cornish strawberries and vanilla ice cream as well as some unusual additions including turmeric and beetroot juice. Made especially for Eden is The Eden, a tropical, frothy mix of banana, pineapple, honey and turmeric topped with whipped cream, coconut flakes and broken meringue. James said: “Cornwall has a lot in common with Australia – we’ve taken the idea of the freakshake and given it our own fabulous twist. Yes, we’ve had juices and milkshakes before but nothing quite as ‘wow!’ as this. “The core of The Eden shake is made up of some really healthy ingredients inspired by the great tropical vibe of the Rainforest Biome.” James visited Eden to give hospitality team members a masterclass in how to create the perfect freakshake. Also on the menu at Eden next week are: The Cream Tea – made with blended strawberries and Cornish clotted cream, topped off with half a scone spread with jam and cream and garnished with granola and fresh strawberry slices. The Red Velvet – blended with beetroot juice, chocolate powder and raspberries and sprinkled with chocolate chips and blowtorched marshmallows. The Clint Eastwood – featuring brewed and chilled coffee sponge and finished with whipped cream, sponge biscuits and burnt candied orange zest. Trewithen Dairy Managing Director Francis Clarke said: “We love to see Trewithen products being used in new and exciting ways. Our milk, cream and yoghurt are totally natural products, whizzed into tasty concoctions to delight Eden’s visitors – what more could you want?” Andrew Holden, Eden’s Procurement Director, said: “The team at Trewithen Dairy have been supplying Eden’s dairy needs from the day we opened our doors to the public, so to have James help us whip up something as new and exciting as this with their quality milk and cream is a great way to celebrate our lasting relationship.” The freakshakes will be available to buy every day during half-term at the Freaky Marquee in front of the Mediterranean Biome.

Call me!! There is an exciting addition to the Eden Sessions lineup! New wave icons Blondie are the latest act to be confirmed and will play a show against the backdrop of the famous Biomes on Friday June 23. The announcement coincides with the release of their eleventh studio album Pollinator, which comes out today (Friday May 5).

The Eden Project has been named the country’s best visitor attraction for inclusivity at the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence.

Gluten-free bakers will be rising to the challenge in a new section of the World Pasty Championships at the Eden Project on March 4. For the first time amateur pasty-makers can enter a gluten-free category in the global competition supported by the Cornish Pasty Association. It is thought that this is the first gluten-free pasty baking competition of its kind.

Hard rock duo Royal Blood will be bringing their incendiary live show to the Eden Sessions on Thursday June 22, 2017. The Brighton pair, aka Mike Kerr (vocals and bass) and Ben Thatcher (drums), caused a major splash with their self-titled debut album in 2014, with many critics and fans lauding them as the saviours of British rock music.

One of the greatest Eden Sessions performances ever, by legendary singer Tom Jones, is now available to watch on BBC iPlayer.

Get ready as Canadian superstar Bryan Adams is to appear at next year’s Sessions at the Eden Project in Cornwall!!!
