About Wray Castle NT
Wray Castle is a stunning mock-gothic castle with turrets, towers and informal grounds, sitting on the shores of Lake Windermere. An unusual and exciting National Trust castle; this is a place for all the family to explore and enjoy. The National Trust don't have any of the original castle contents so is more informal and child friendly. The Peter Rabbit Adventure is the perfect spot for creative play for the youngest visitors; whilst older children might like dressing up or building their own castle. To find out more about the varied history of this fascinating building, why not join one of the regular free guided tours? There’s plenty to do outdoors too, like rope swing, den-building and trails, in our family-friendly gardens and grounds. Boarding one of the regular lake cruises from Ambleside allows you to arrive at Wray Castle in style. A gentle walk or cycle here also makes a perfect start to your visit. Although the rooms may be empty the castle has so much to offer the whole family!
