About Mapperton House & Gardens
Mapperton has a vast heritage, which is reflected throughout the house and gardens.
The valley gardens of Mapperton is an area which reflects at least three periods of history, from the 17th century Croquet Lawn, to the 1920s Italianate Garden and the Orangery that was added in the late 1960s. With fish ponds leading to the wild garden, displaying a wonderful array of shrubbery and trees, the Gardens are a perfect romantic spot to take that special someone.
The House has a vast heritage dating back to the Domesday Book 1086, but it is now the home of the Earl and Countess of Sandwich. The family moved here in the 1950s, bringing with them their magnificent collection of art - of which can be seen throughout the house.
With the Sawmill Cafe serving light lunches and afternoon teas, as well as wines, ciders and beers, Mapperton is the perfect place to visit - offering guests a day of tranquility amongst the most beautiful of surroundings.
