About National War Museum
Within the walls of Edinburgh Castle, the National War Museum tells the story of battles lost and won through military artefacts and personal treasures.
Over the last 400 years, countless wars at home and abroad have drawn Scots into battle. In the historic setting of Edinburgh’s old military hospital, individual stories of fortitude and sacrifice are told, alongside the broader history of Scotland at war, through medals, letters, weaponry, artworks, uniforms and the things that people kept as reminders.
