About Charles Dickens' Birthplace Museum
While spending most of his life in London and Chatham, the world famous Victorian novelist Charles Dickens spent much of his early life in Portsmouth. The museum brings his birthplace to life vividly, showcasing genuine Regency furniture and items, as well as many exhibits belonging to Dickens himself including the couch on which he died.
