All I want for Christmas is Zoo

It’s time for some extra holiday fun at ZSL London Zoo, as zookeepers have been busy preparing some very seasonal surprises for the Zoo’s residents to enjoy. Asiatic lionesses Heidi, Indi and Rubi will wake up to a pile of pretty presents to rip open - thanks to specialist fund management group Liontrust - while the Zoo’s Humboldt penguin colony will be pecking for pressies underneath their very own Christmas tree.

Lightning baby born at ZSL London Zoo

In the wake of a thunderstorm, storm Aileen, a giant baby anteater was born. The newest resident to ZSL London Zoo, is now 6 weeks old, and has a shocking white stripe covering the youngster’s back. The mother of the new-born, Inca, has taken the baby outside for the first time since the birth.

World's Largest Tortoises arrive at ZSL London Zoo

Four of the world’s biggest tortoises have arrived at ZSL London Zoo, although they are smaller than you think. The baby Galapagos tortoises have taken up residence at the zoo. Currently only weighing 2kg, these infants are expected to grow to a massive size, measuring 400kg in weight.

Zoorassic Park at ZSL London Zoo: 22 July -3 Sept

Step back in time this summer, as ZSL London Zoo becomes home to the most colossal creatures ever to walk the earth! For just six weeks, summer visitors to the Zoo will be transported by time machine to the Mesozoic era at Zoorassic Park, a prehistoric world where they will come face-to-face with life-size, moving dinosaurs: from the giant but gentle brachiosaurus to the towering tyrannosaurus rex. Included in Zoo entry, families will be able to learn all about the fascinating creatures that lived 65 million years ago, as well as the important work ZSL’s scientists are doing to help prevent today’s endangered animals from extinction.
