Chiddingstone Castle's Country Fair

The popular, annual Country fair, will be held on Sunday 13th September between 11am and 5pm, at Chiddingstone Castle.

Set in the idyllic rural setting of Chiddingstone Castle and its attractive grounds and lake, the fair will celebrate the traditions of our countryside and the country sports associated with it. With displays such as the entertaining Dog & Runner Duck show and a display from the horses and hounds of the Old Surrey Burstow & West Kent Hunt, the days is filled with a packed programme of exciting and interesting activities and displays throughout the day. There’s also a display of carriage driving, working dogs and sniffer dogs and not forgetting the fun exemption dog show, open to all!

There’ll be some gorgeous miniature Shetland ponies to stroke, as well as a local Gamekeeper’s pheasants, partridge and grouse to admire! There’s also the chance to have a go at Laser Clay Pigeon shooting in the area beside the Castle’s Victorian Orangery, new for this year! (Additional charges).

You can also watch the farriers demonstrating a range of traditional skills, or why not try your hand at fly fishing?

Tractors, both old and new, will be displayed and make sure you bring along your terriers to the returning and ever-popular terrier racing.

Larkin’s Ale, brewed in Chiddingstone, will be sold in the beer tent amongst other refreshments, which can purchased from a number of stalls selling home-produced food. The band ‘Last of the Wild’ will be performing next to the beer tent.

Stalls will also be selling local art, produce, antiques, vintage ware and pet products, giving you the chance to do some fantastic shopping.

After a full day’s entertainment everyone will be invited to enter the hugely entertaining family giant wool sack race.

There will be a charge on the gates of £4 for adults and £1 for children aged between 5 and 13 (under 5’s free).  The Castle will be offering reduced admission throughout the day for visitors to admire the fascinating collections of Japanese, Ancient Egyptian, Buddhist, Stuart and Egyptian artefacts acquired by the late antiquarian, Denys Eyre Bower.
