Country Fair is now an annual event at Chiddingstone Castle

After a successful event last year attended by over 1500 people, Chiddingstone Castle will again host their popular annual Country Fair on Sunday 15 September between 11am and 5 pm.

The fair will celebrate the traditions of our countryside and the country sports associated with it.

A packed programme of exciting and entertaining activities and displays will take place throughout the day including an Exemption Dog show with a number of fun classes for young and old - dogs and handlers! Rosettes will be presented to the winners. Visitors can also enjoy displays by the Old Surrey, Burstow and West Kent Hunt hounds and horses together with falconry, gundog training, ferrets and fly fishing on the lake. Farm animals will be available to handle and admire, and a traditional blacksmith will be demonstrating his skills, as will a farrier.

The ever popular terrier racing will also be returning after its debut last year - so please bring along your terriers!!

The Castle's friendly llamas will also be present, for young and old to enjoy a leisurely trek with them around the 35 acres of informal gardens and woodland.

The beer tent will be selling Larkin's Ale, brewed in Chiddingstone, and refreshments can be purchased from a number of stalls selling home-produced food. There will also be some fantastic shopping with stalls selling local art, produce, antiques, vintage ware etc.

It will be a day that will offer something for everyone and will end with a family giant wool sack race.

There will be a charge on the gates of £3 for adults and £1 for children aged between 5 and 13. The Castle will be open throughout the day and visitors can purchase a ticket to enjoy the exquisite collections of Japanese, Ancient Egyptian, Buddhist, Stuart and Egyptian artefacts acquired by the late antiquarian, Denys Eyre Bower. The Tea Rooms will remain open throughout the day so don't forget to try the legendary Chiddingstone Cream Tea!
