Monster myth-busting at ZSL Whipsnade Zoo

February half-term at ZSL Whipsnade Zoo

Saturday 13 to Sunday 21 February 2016

What can live in the coldest places on earth? What thrives in the largest of rainforests?

This February half-term at ZSL Whipsnade Zoo, families will discover chilling facts and bust some monster myths at a series of fascinating new talks.

Those reaching for their woolly hats and scarves before a day out at the Zoo might consider the British winter a tad chilly, but it’s nothing compared to the extreme conditions that many of ZSL Whipsnade Zoo’s animals are perfectly equipped to face.

The Zoo’s animals deal with extreme environments in incredible ways, all of which will be revealed during the special series of half-term talks and feeds.

Visitors can learn all about the Bactrian camels, and how their bodies have adapted to carry a “lunchbox” in their humps to face life in the Gobi desert.  Find out how penguins live in very cold waters and how the behaviour of the Zoo’s pride of lions is influenced by the extreme heat of the African sun.

For anyone that’s ever wondered about the mythical yeti, the giant squid, the Mongolian death worm or the fearsome sounding devil bird, rumoured to exist in some of the most extreme habitats in the world, the truth behind these mysterious creatures will be revealed at ZSL Whipsnade Zoo.

ZSL Whipsnade Zoo’s series of special Monster Myth-busting talks runs from Saturday 13 to Sunday 21 February 2016. All talks and feeds are included in the normal entry price. For more information or to book, see www.zsl.org
