Notts Talent Rock the Stage at Splendour

On Saturday 23 July, the city’s most exciting new musical talent will perform in front of a 20,000 strong Splendour crowd at Wollaton Park, an ideal platform previously starring Notts’ Jake Bugg, Indiana and Saint Raymond.

More than 10 Notts artists will rub shoulders with global superstars across three stages, including headliners Grammy Award winner and pop sensation Jess Glynne and legendary bands The Human League and UB40.

Headlining the Acoustic Rooms stage will be British folk singer Will Varley, who has recently sold out The Bodega and supported Frank Turner at Rock City followed by Brad Dear, who has recently been sharing a stage with Notts band Ferocious Dog. Tom McCartney headlined the Broadway Stage at this year’s Dot to Dot Festival and Bru-C, Ellie Keegan, Josh Wheatley, Raphael Blake and Lowrie will add to the energetic festival vibe.

Across the park on the Confetti Stage Notts stars Eyre Llew and These Your Children will join headliners and multi-million selling megaband The Darkness, while local rising star Ady Suleiman will rock the Main Stage. Signed to Syco, Ady has already released a couple of EPs and is currently working on his debut album set for release later this year.

Venue Manager at DHP Family, Danielle Sorsby, said: “Everyone on the Acoustic Rooms Stage is a definite ‘one to watch’, that’s why we picked them. Lowrie has changed dramatically as an artist over the past year and he’s on everyone’s radar at the minute, while Josh Wheatley has recently taken a break from gigging to focus on writing so this will be a big show for him.”

Organisers DHP Family has successfully enabled many emerging artists in the local vibrant music scene an opportunity to perform at and headline DHP venues in the UK. The selection of artists performing on the Acoustic Rooms Stage at Splendour have been gigging at Rescue Rooms’ weekly open mic night ‘Acoustic Rooms’ and playing at other DHP venues for some time.

Danielle added: “Booking local artists for Splendour is so hard because there are so many fantastic acts to choose from! Inviting local artists along to perform is DHP’s way of saying thanks and giving them a good platform to play their songs to a bigger and new crowd; it’s a personal pleasure giving them a helping hand.

“Four years ago we had Joe Keogh from Nottingham band Amber Run open up the Acoustic Rooms Stage then two years after he joined band mates and played the Confetti Stage followed by the Main Stage a few years later! The same sort of pattern happened with Saint Raymond and Jake Bugg too - both who once performed at our open mic nights.”

Tickets for Splendour are on sale now and start at just £20. To get the latest line-up announcements and festival updates go to www.splendourfestival.com or like www.facebook.com/splendourfestivalUK or follow @splendourfest.
