Swashbuckling Summer Fun at Groombridge Place

Head for Groombridge Place near Tunbridge Wells this summer for some Swashbuckling fun every day from 26 July to 31 August 2014.

As well as all the fun in the forest there will be a host of extra activities in the school holidays  (26 July and 31 August) including Blackbeard’s Treasure Hunt, water zorbing, a bouncy castle for the under 5’s, balloon sword workshop, pirate and princess water fights and a treasure island puppet show.

Blackbeard’s Treasure hunt will have everyone looking for the hidden letters around Groombridge Place which have been carefully hidden by Blackbeard.  Follow the clues to unscramble the word to win the booty!  All treasure hunts handed in at Crusoe’s World by 3pm will receive a prize.

The popular Water Zorbing is double the size this year so this is your chance to walk on water!

Find the galleon crew at Crusoe’s World and they will teach you how to make a balloon sword.  Children will no doubt wish to use their new swords to play pirates on the authentic large wooden ship and rope bridges of Crusoe’s World.

Don’t miss the chance to take your place in the epic Pirate v Princess water fight at the forest fort.

Join the interative ‘Sockettes Treasure Island Puppet Show’ to find out if they find the treasure and save the day!

All activities are free with admission and families should take time to explore the forest with its giant tree swings, zip wire and board walk.

Watch the majestic Peacocks from the Peacock Bistro and stroll round the lovely gardens which overlook the attractive moated medieval manor house.   Children will love the giant chess set and the secret garden with streams that feed the moat.

The popular Bird of Prey Centre is also based at Groombridge Place and this is a chance to see some magnificent birds up close including Helga the Bald Eagle. The birds thrill visitors twice a day (except Monday but including Bank Holidays) with their daring flying displays while their handler captivates audiences with his commentary about the birds while they fly.

A canal boat will take you to Crusoe’s World for a small fee (£1 children and £1.50 adults)

The ‘Peacock Bistro’ serves hot and cold drinks, as well as delicious lunches and cream teas.
