The Ripper Myths

One of The London Dungeon’s most famous residents, Jack the Ripper, will have some chilling new insights of his murderous story revealed to guests, as the attraction teams up with the author of ‘Jack the Ripper, The 21st Century Investigation’ and top murder squad detective, Trevor Marriott.

Key questions that are posed in Marriott’s best-selling book will be explored, along with new characters and a new script. Did the killer really remove body organs or were they removed in the mortuary after the murders? Were there more than five victims? Were the victims actually killed by the same hand or was there more than murderer at large?

“The facts of this case have been totally distorted over the years and the general public have been completely misled,” said Marriott, an ex-detective who spent 11 years conducting a 21st century review of the killings, using modern police techniques. “I hope guests at the Dungeon might go away with new insights and question the perceived wisdom on this case – as well as enjoy a spine-tingling experience.”

After receiving the latest gossip from an East-End newspaper boy, visitors will meet purveyor of horsemeat, Mrs Harriet Hardiman in her cat’s meat shop at 29 Hanbury Street. One of Mrs Hardiman’s sons discovered Annie Chapman’s mutilated body, whilst another was a suspect in the murder. Visitors will enter Mitre Square, a site of another Ripper murder, where ‘working girl’ Mary Jane Kelly nervously walks the streets and a determined Police Officer is intent on unpicking the evidence and challenging the accepted views on one of the ghastliest murder sprees of all time – so be prepared for a chilling dose of Dungeon scares.

Then with the Ripper fast on their heels, they must navigate through the Whitechapel Labyrinth, a confusing mirror maze of narrow streets, to escape his clutches. Shelter lies at the end of the labyrinth in the form of Whitechapel’s famous Ten Bells Pub. Landlady Peggy Waldron will tell the ultimate ghost story guaranteed to make guests jump out of their skins, so don’t relax too soon!

Watch out for jumps, screams and spine-chilling fun presented in the Dungeon’s inimitable style! PLUS, there’s a free collectible Victorian newspaper dishing all the dirt on the Ripper murders for every visitor.

Guests should prepare for close encounters with some of London’s most deadly past residents, as well as Jack, from Sweeney Todd to King Henry VIII, as 1000 years of the capital’s murky past is brought alive in 18 shows, featuring 20 acts and two thrilling rides plus plenty of edge-of-your-seat surprises.

Catch him while you can! The Ripper Myths will be running from Tuesday July 7th until Monday 31st August only. Advanced booking essential to avoid horrible disappointment!
