Bolton Abbey is a lovely area not far from Leeds it is beautiful contryside. There are various walks - most following the river or up to Simon's seat. The strid is not too far to walk from here and if you go in the car park (costs about 5pounds) you can use the other two car parks further up the river as well. The strid is well worth walking or driving up to as its a natural bottle neck where the river is funneled through a narrow passage - very impressive. The ruined abbey is good to walk round. There's a good tea shop and food shop up in the village as well. There is also the stepping stones across the river if you are brave enough. A good place to take a pinic as well.
