About Clifford's Tower

While mostly in ruins now, Clifford's tower still stands tall as a fantastic piece of medieval architecture. The largest and most visible piece of York Castle, the tower still has many fascinating features to see and explore: from the richly decorated chapel, the battlements that lie atop it, the red stones from the fire damage of the 17th century and much more. The top of the tower also boasts some of the best views of the city and while there have been many refurbishments over the years, many distinctive 13th century architectural features can be seen throughout the interior.
