About The Merchant Adventurers' Hall
This 14th century Hall is a building of great national importance, as it is one of the largest buildings of its kind and was constructed years before buildings of this style were commonplace. The three rooms within served three very different functions: a chapel for religous matters, a Great Hall for social functions and an Undercroft for Charitable work. Just like in the past, the hall today still serves many functions, hosting a number of events throughout the year as well as being a fully functioning museum, housing a number of fascinating collections covering the long history of the hall, including portraits, photos and furniture.
