About Dove Cottage & The Wordsworth Museum
You don’t have to be a fan of Wordsworth’s poetry to enjoy your visit to Dove Cottage & The Wordsworth Museum. The house and its contents are very much as it was when William left in 1808 and Dove Cottage and the museum beside it is the only place in the world where his personal belongings can be seen. An entertaining guided tour gives a vivid impression of what life was like, the famous people who visited and what they got up to! The Wordsworth Gallery in the Museum tells the story of his remarkable life, his tragic childhood, his travels through the French revolution, his radical ideas which seem so relevant today, how he changed literature forever and how his life changed to political conservatism and public service. Special exhibitions change up to three time a year and cover art, travel, lives of famous people and social history.
