Beautiful house and gardens (small) but not a grea

Beautiful house and gardens (small) but not a great experience or value for money. Concessions are only given £1 off an already expensive entry fee of £9.50 and apparently unemployed people don't qualify for even that discount. There is some information on boards around the house but could be better; a £3.50 guide is available to compensate. The features and furniture in the house are definitely impressive and Haddon has impressive treasures but as a visitor you feel very controlled. No walking on the grass, no picnics (even on a bench) and they do not allow you to wander in the meadow below by the river either. We were done in 1.5 hours making the trip extremely expensive and not even half a day out. Don't take children as there is nothing for them and garden restrictions would make your life stressful. Chatsworth is a lot more accessible and better value. Car Parking is £1.50.
