About Gorgie City Farm
Cows, sheep, goats, pigs, and poultry can all be found here as well as small pet animals. Because of our size, children can get really close to the animals, and begin to understand how a real farm works and many school and nursery groups visit for this very purpose! Make sure they peek over fences etc. into sties and pens and look carefully at piles of hay in case animals are napping post breakfast/ snack time. Feed can be bought for most of the large animals and poultry which helps with getting their attention [please read signage though]!
There's a small playground with a slide, and seesaw; a tractor for play and pictures; plus the Farm Café [highchairs available], and, for nice weather, there's a picnic area outside. The farm also caters for children's birthdays on weekends throughout the year. For older children (8 & over) there are various w/end and holiday activities available to allow hands-on contact with the animals. Volunteering in various roles is open to 13s and over – though usually waiting lists apply. Please email for more info/ referrals. We can also cater for the family pets while you are on holiday- rabbits, guinea pigs and rodents can come and stay with us. Again do email for prices and availability.
