Abridge was formerly known for being an important route stagecoach route between London and Chipping Ongar, as well as being an important crossing point of the River Roding for many centuries. Times have changed, but you can still see the River Roding today, as well as some astounding views that come when using the walking routes between South to Lambourne church, most of which is open farmland. You can also vist APSE grove, commonly known by its nickname, Bluebell grove and is often open to the public.
