About Walker Art Gallery
One of the finest art galleries in Europe, the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool, is home to a national collection of paintings, decorative art and sculpture from the 13th century to the present day. Originally developed for the people of the city, it now holds the best collection of historic art outside of London.
The galleries have something for every taste including European Renaissance paintings, Tudor portraits, masterpieces by Rubens, Poussin, Rembrandt, Turner and Stubbs, Pre-Raphaelite artworks by Rossetti and Millais and Impressionist works by Monet and Degas.
The Craft and Design gallery houses more than 500 items from the 17th Century to the present day, as diverse an Art Deco tea and coffee set to designer couture fashions.
The sculpture gallery is home to more than 100 sculptures dating from the 18th century to 1918.
The Gallery’s programme of special exhibitions and ever growing collection of contemporary art, including works by Lucian Freud, David Hockney, Bridget Riley and Banksy means there is always something new to experience. Check the website for details.
