About Yorkshire Museum
The rich history of York is brought to life within the Yorkshire Museum and is one of the most comprehensive and well stocked museums outside of London. From it's huge collection of archeological finds (including Roman, Anglican, Saxon and Viking artefacts), to exhibits on Biology, Geology, Numismatics and much more, all visitors will leave having learned something new about the city. Besides the exhibits, the museum also has a beautiful set of gardens. Surrounding the ruins of St. Mary's Abbey, the gardens contain Yorkshire's oldest working observatory, as well as a huge botanical collection and is the perfect place to stop and relax after absorbing the mountains of information that can be gleaned from the museum's collections.
