About The National Wallace Monument
Come and see the landmark dedicated to arguably Scotland's greatest hero, William Wallace! Having towered on the summit of Abbey Craig outside Stirling for over 140 years, this huge stone monument marks the place where Wallace oversaw the gathering of the English army before the famous Battle of Stirling Bridge, the first war of Scottish independence. Housed within are three galleries telling the story of Wallace, one of which features Wallace's own sword! Discover all about how the Battle of Stirling Bridge was fought and won, the story of Wallace following the bloody battle, the tales of other famous Scots, how the monument came to be and make sure to check out the breath-taking view from the very top.
