About Nelson Monument
Erected in memory of Admiral Lord Nelson after his death at the battle of Trafalgar, plans were laid for this monument before his body had even made its way back to Great Britain. You can read all about the details of the battle within the monument. Although it was completed in 1815, a time ball was added in 1852, dropping every day at one o' clock so sailors could accurately set their chronometers. With the exception of Sundays it is still dropped daily.
