I took my daughter here today for one of the zoo-keeper experiences. She is 8 - and did the Fledgling experience, which meant she got to help with the birds, Llamas, Pigs, Horses, and several others. The experience lasts 2 hours, but includes entrance to the zoo and discounts off lunch and the shop. We had a great day, despite it being a bit chilly - and I'd definitely recommend the experience if your child likes animals. The keeper was very friendly and helpful, and answered loads of questions. Thank you Colchester Zoo!

We visited here earlier in the summer and had a very enjoyable time with our young children. Make sure that you take note of the feeding times and be aware that you will have to get to the elephant and giraffe feeding areas in plenty of time as you will have to queue. There is lots to see and do here and you can easily spend all day here. There are outdoor play areas in addition to the animals.

The last time I went to Colchester Zoo was on a Sunday which I thought might not be a great idea because it could be very busy. When I got there, the car park was fairly full but when you get into the zoo, it's not really noticeable. The zoo it's self is very, very big so the visitors spread out! I have been to the zoo a few times before but keep going back each year and never get bored. They generally have new things every time I go, whether its animals or features. Colchester Zoo has plenty of animals to keep all ages interested, the animals have quite spacious enclosures too which is nice to see. The animals that stood out for me were the Monkeys, White Tiger, Elephants and Sea Lions. I'd love to go back soon and see the Dragons of Komodo, they had just moved in when I went and you couldn't see much of them! Overall, Colchester Zoo is well worth a visit - it will take you a day to get round - but if you want to visit a zoo, Colchester Zoo it certainly up there with the best.

When i went to Colchester Zoo last it was for a little boy's birthday and him and his friends all loved it and so did the adults. They have a wide variety of animals there to see, my favourites were the Elephants because there was a little baby one that was really cute! There's also a gift shop with loads to choose from so take plenty of money.
