An explosion of fun and Freaky Nature at the Eden Project this February half-term

The fascinating world of seeds and how they fly, explode and even hitchhike their way around the world will be put under the spotlight during Freaky Nature at the Eden Project from February 15 – 28.

The popular event returns with a variety of games, trails and activities that challenge visitors to recreate the daring lengths that seeds go to in the name of survival.

A special trail will lead visitors around the Biomes and the outdoor gardens, where they can investigate the various seeds that have helped to grow Eden and then use their findings to create their own Freaky Flyer - a seed that disperses on the wind.

In the Core building visitors can test their aim with the Angry Burdocks slingshot game and learn all about the plant that inspired Velcro, or create their own Seed Bomb and see how far their seeds scatter when they explode.

Eden will also be putting seeds under the microscope with the Big it Up activity, where people will be able to see nature’s fantastic feats of engineering on a giant scale.

Little ones will also be able to join in the action with the Bug Boutique, where they can dress up as their favourite creepy crawly.

Chris Pritchard, Eden Live Production Manager, said: “This half term, we are celebrating the ingenious methods that plants have developed to disperse seeds far and wide. There are activities for everyone to join in and find out how animals, air and even humans take part in the survival of plants.”

During half term, people will also be able to take a spin on Eden’s ice rink, which will be in place until March 2. General skate sessions will be running throughout the day and cost £6 for a 40 minute session, with special 2 for 1 sessions available on selected days.
