Cinderella Cast Announcement

Whilst it’s nowhere near Christmas time yet, the excitement for the panto season is in the air. With the upcoming performance of Cinderella at the Blackpool Grand Theatre this December, you’ll be wishing for the cold weather!

This December, Martin Dodd for UK Productions and Blackpool Grand Theatre proudly presents… Cinderella. The tale of the young girl who lives under her evil step mother and horrible step sisters. The cast for the show has finally been announced and we can reveal the faces behind this year’s Blackpool panto.

Playing the role of the handsome Prince Charming, is none other than Union J’s, JJ Hamblett! The X-Factor star comes from an impressive music career, with 4 top 10 hits and a UK sold out tour, singing with Union J. He’s had a career in film too, acting in productions such as Once Upon a Time in London and Rise of the Footsoilder III: The Beginning.

Alongside JJ, is Melanie Walters, who played Gwen from Gavin and Stacey! Playing the magical Fairy Godmother, Walters was part of the TV comedy, classic Gavin and Stacey. Winning awards such as the BAFTA Audience Award and British Comedy Award Best TV Comedy. Acting in shows such as Doc Martin and The Bill, Mel is a perfect fit for the caring, Fairy Godmother.

Finally, playing the beautiful Cinderella, is the charming Olivia Birchenough. Olivia comes from a strong background in theatre performance, training at the Rose Burford College of Theatre and Performance, winning awards such as Best Female Lead at both the Great British Pantomime Awards 2017 and the Panto Insider Awards 2017. She is also a leading children’s presenter, on Channel 5’s Milkshake, touring the country performing in theatre shows, nationwide and presenting live on TV, daily.

Hamblett, Walters and Birchenough will be joined by the likes of comedian and BBC Radio Lancashire presenter, actor and writer, Steve Royle. Who has supported the likes of Peter Kay on tour and was voted for Entertainer of the Year at the Red Rose Awards. Joining the star-studded cast, returning as the Ugly Sisters, Jamie Morris and Tarot Joseph.
