DRAYTON MANOR WINS BEST ATTRACTION FOR CHILDREN AT GROUP LEISURE AWARDS

For the ninth time, Drayton Manor Park has been given the prestigous title of the Best UK Attraction for Children at the Group Leisure Awards 2016. This award winning attraction spans 286 acres of Staffordshire countryside and includes both a hotel and conference area, 152 seat 4D Cinema, conservation zoo and theme park as well as over 50 rides and attractions.

William Bryan, Managing Director of Drayton Manor Park, said: “We are delighted to have won this award again and I would like to thank the readers of Group Leisure for voting for us. This is the ninth year we have received this award which is a real testament to the team here at Drayton Manor.  We work extremely hard to ensure that we maintain our goal, which has always been to provide an amazing day out for our visitors. Being recognised for providing the best day out for children is such an achievement and our efforts are now focused on aiming for our tenth award in this category in 2017!”

The park has a number of hugely popular attractions such as Thomas Land™, the only attraction of its kind in Europe. Featuring many named Thomas & Friends™ character rides for children and adults alike. Young adventurers can enjoy Flynn’s Fire Rescue, Captain’s Sea Adventure and Toby’s Tram Express alongside the popular Sodor Airport terminal. Groups can put out fires, get soaked at sea and enjoy the wobbles and twists on Toby’s Tram before relaxing and drying off or cooling down with a selection of hot or cold drinks and snacks that are available in the ground level café at the Airport.

The Park’s zoo is popular all year round and is home to over 100 species of animals including a pair of critically endangered Sumatran tigers, bouncing red kangaroos, fascinating spider monkeys, cotton topped tamarins and a mischievous meerkat mob.
For thrill-seekers there’s a host of white-knuckle rides to get the adrenaline going. There’s 54m drop-tower Apocalypse, voted the UK’s scariest thrill ride by Channel Five’s The Gadget Show and Shockwave, Europe’s first stand up coaster. There’s also Air Race, which takes riders on an exciting aerial adventure. Not to mention the stomach-churning gyro-swing, Maelstrom and G-Force, a rollercoaster that subjects riders to 4.3G!
