Half term treat for little monsters at the Mercury Theatre this October

David McKee’s Not Now, Bernard & Other Monster Stories

Running Tuesday 27 – Saturday 31 October

Mercury Theatre Studio

This October there’s a half term treat instore for families when David McKee’s much-loved Not Now, Bernard comes to the Mercury Theatre Studio from Tuesday 27 to Saturday 31 October.

Everyone’s got a monster inside them that wants to go grrrr and it sometimes feels as though everyone is just too busy to listen to little Bernard. But when he finds a big purple monster in the garden things rapidly go from bad to worse…

Not Now, Bernard, recommended for children aged 3 to 8 years,  is joined by two of David McKee’s other wonderfully funny (and not too scary) monster stories - The Two Monsters and The Monster And The Teddy Bear - in this fast-paced show about growing up and learning how to deal with change. Expect masks, puppets, music, possibly the biggest teddy in the world…oh, and LOTS of mess!

Starring in Not Now, Bernard will be panto favourites Laura Curnick, Tim Freeman and Sarah Moss.

Tim said:

“I think that children will love the mess and chaos that we create. They will see that sometimes mums and dads can become monsters and so can kids themselves. Everyone argues, but in the end as long as you can see the other side the argument (or mountain in our case) peace will always return.”

He added:

“They will see that sometimes looking at things in a different way can turn chaos into beauty. Mostly though, I think they'll have a great time and love the silliness!”

Adapted and directed by Mercury Theatre Artistic Director Daniel Buckroyd, Not Now, Bernard & Other Monster Stories follows last year’s hugely successful tour of Hare and Tortoise and will tour to schools across Essex before beginning its run at the Mercury Theatre in October.

Not Now, Bernard & Other Monster Stories will play in the Mercury Theatre Studio from Tuesday 27 to Saturday 31 October. There will also be a relaxed performance on Wednesday 28 October at 2pm. Tickets are £6.50 for children and £8.50 for adults.
