Hands-on holiday fun at the National Maritime Museum

FROM this Saturday there will be a host of hands-on fun for the Easter holidays at the Maritime Museum in Falmouth.

Watch out there’s bootleggers about!  Be inspired by the new Smuggling exhibition and make a secret chest with a concealed compartment or your very own flintlock pistol.  Plus search high and low for contraband hidden around the Museum.

On Tuesday, April 8 and 15 Douglas Dapper the Story Explorer will be smuggling himself into the Museum and going on a rummage for stories of kegs and contraband.  And on Thursday, April 10 and 17 join the Captain to hear tall tales of real smugglers, running secret cargoes into Cornish coves.  Come along my dears, but don’t tell the Revenue men!

Then over the Easter Weekend, from April 18 - 21, cast your very own mini chocolate Easter egg and make a brilliant bunny or chick mask.  Plus as a special treat for Easter Monday, don’t miss your chance to meet the crew from the Royal Navy 771 Search and Rescue Squadron who’ll be dropping in to answer all the questions you’ve always wanted to ask.  Dress as a member of the crew, get to grips with the equipment, climb inside a Sea King helicopter and learn what it takes to keep the Royal Navy Search and Rescue helicopters flying.

The Easter holiday activities at the Maritime Museum in Falmouth run from April 5-21 and are free with your Museum entrance ticket.  For more information on opening times and admission prices visit www.nmmc.co.uk or call 01326 313388.
