HOLMES COMES HOME TO BAKER STREET AS MADAME TUSSAUDS LONDON REVEALS TWO NEW SHERLOCK WHODUNNITS?

Madame Tussauds London vividly brought to life the world of Sherlock Holmes yesterday  (14th July), revealing the sets and characters for two new theatrical detective experiences - The Sherlock Holmes Experience and The Game's AfootThey are the first in the attraction's history not to feature wax figures, but instead a cast of 20 actors will play familiar characters from the stories, as well as some totally new, with Inspector Lestrade re-invented as a female detective.

The productions have been created by Olivier-nominated theatre company, Les Enfants Terribles, with collaborator and producer, ebp, who have transformed the atmospheric basement of the attraction into a visually astonishing Sherlockian world, layered with detail and laden with more than 100 clues. The Sherlock Holmes Experience opens tomorrow (Friday July 15) and is a permanent walkthrough detective adventure included in the main Madame Tussauds London visit. The Game's Afoot (think Human Cluedo) is an evening show with a strictly limited run from Monday July 18 until Friday September 30.

The world famous attractions General Manager, Edward Fuller,  commented: "This is a totally new direction for Madame Tussauds and a very exciting one. Although Madame Tussaud herself made her name creating wax figures, I am sure she would heartily approve of these experiences. She was a consummate show-woman who worked hard to capture the zeitgeist and give the public what they wanted - this aim continues, to enthrall visitors and work with amazing innovators and visionaries. The creative team have done a staggering job creating multi-textured theatrical sets taking guests on a journey from 221B Baker Street to the windswept moors of Dartmoor, meeting characters and seeking out clues to solve mysteries worthy of the great detective himself."

Emma Brünjes, Director of ebp, added:  “After months of preparation and hours of meticulous planning, we are proud to be opening the first ever truly immersive, theatrical production at a landmark London attraction. The world that Les Enfants Terribles has created in the depths of Madame Tussauds London is unbelievable. Guests should be prepared to step back in time as an icon of British literature is brought to life on his home turf. We can’t wait for guests to explore Sherlock’s study and delve into Victorian London to solve the latest case.”

The Sherlock Holmes Experience is included in the entrance price to Madame Tussauds London, starting at £24.50 for adults and £20.65 for children online. Tickets for The Game’s Afoot start from £45. Find out more at www.madame-tussauds.com/london and www.thegamesafoot.co.uk
