If You Know a Roving Junior Reporter then The York Dungeon Wants Them!

The York Dungeon has current vacancy for a child with an inquisitive nature, an unusual affinity with the dark and can put a pen to paper. If you know someone that fits this bill, they might be perfect for the Roving Junior Reporter vacancy that is being advertised on Monster.co.uk.

Where’s Jack? – is the popular attraction’s new spine-chilling summer show, that will see one of the world’s most notorious serial killers, Jack the Ripper, venture north for the season. With this in mind, a Junior Reporter is wanted to blog and produce a series of articles that investigate the mystery and history surrounding Jack the Ripper, all for its paper, The Daily News.

The individual needs to be, according the job ad, a tenacious go-getter with a natural thirst for investigating crime, a way with words and scary situations must not faze them. In return, The York Dungeon a notepad and pen, thesaurus, dictating machine and soft drink on demand, as well as free entry.

The ideal applicant will be aged 10-15 years old and, as the job description goes on to say, up for the challenge of a lifetime and good at solving puzzles. If they’re a Candy Crush pro, this could be the job for them.

This job will help fill your child’s summer holidays with something fun and educational. As the experience will be interactive, it’s a great way to bring history to life too – who said learning wasn’t fun!

General Manager at the York Dungeon, Helen Douglas, comments: “It might seem as though we’re asking for a lot, but we just know that the perfect candidate is out there and this will be an exciting and rewarding role for them. We want someone to investigate the folklore and history surrounding Jack the Ripper and present their objective findings to the readers of The Daily News and our online blog. Do they think the crimes were the work of just one person? Were the infamous letters the genuine article? Although Jack the Ripper was prominent in 1888, his infamy is still talked about to this day. By hiring a Junior Reporter, we hope to do justice to the historical story and communicate the facts and evidence, not just the sensationalism and notoriety of ‘Jack’, especially to our younger visitors.”
