The Yorkshire Dales National Park has been named as one of the top 25 UK travel destinations in a new internet poll.
The National Park was rated 17th in a survey of Europeans conducted by TripAdvisor.co.uk.
Wilf Fenten, the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority member Champion for Promoting Understanding, said: "This is more proof that UK visitors are not the only ones to appreciate the beauty and special qualities of the National Park.
"It is a fantastic asset to the area in terms of its natural beauty, wildlife and cultural heritage and as a place for people to live in, work in and visit. And, with the National Park Authority promoting sustainable tourism more and more, we make sure that we can welcome all these visitors without fearing that they may damage what they have come to see."
Julie Barker, the Authority's Sustainable Tourism Manager, said: "This is fantastic news. We know that more than eight million visitors each year choose to come to the Yorkshire Dales, with 98 per cent recommending the area to their friends and telling them to come here for the breathtaking scenery and peaceful way of life.
"Last year we saw an increase in visitors, particularly people staying overnight, and we think it was at least partly due to the economic climate. We are hoping for an even better season this year."
