Otter cubs born to Emmy and Elwood at British Wildlife Centre!

The British Wildlife Centre, near Lingfield, is pleased to announce the arrival of two fluffy bundles of joy; adorable otter cubs born to parents Emmy and Elwood. The cubs were born back in October and since then they have been kept safe in the holt by mum Emmy, an experienced parent who know what's best for them.

This photo shows them with Head Keeper, Matt Binstead, earlier this month, when the cubs were given a health check, microchipped and sexed, as well having this picture taken by the vet. The cubs, one male and one female, have been given a clean bill of health and are now back with mum. Matt is hopeful they will start to venture out regularly: "They are now about 8 weeks old and getting more adventurous. One of the cubs was spotted by visitors last weekend emerging from the holt for the first time, so regular outings and swimming lessons with Emmy are on the cards. Their timing could not be better, as this will tie in with our Christmas holiday opening next week. It would be fantastic if our visitors could catch the early sightings of these gorgeous young cubs".

Look out for those cubs and all the other wonderful native wild species at the British Wildlife Centre which is open for the Christmas holidays from Tuesday 27th December 2016 to Monday 2nd January 2017, 10am to 4pm, last admissions at 3pm!!
