Outdoor Theatre returns to Frimley Lodge Park

Following from last summer's debut, Surrey Heath Borough Council are delighted to announce the return of the Outdoor Theatre shows at Frimley Lodge Park on Saturday 12 July.

Professional touring company Quantum Theatre return and will be performing two brand new productions; Alice Through the Looking Glass and William Shakespeare's The Tempest, in the gorgeous natural surroundings of the award winning park.

Alice Through the Looking Glass is the first of the double bill and is definitely one for kids and families. With live music and the full array of Lewis Carroll's fantastical characters, this lively new adaptation follows Alice's adventures in the looking-glass world she enters through the mirror above her drawing-room fireplace.Adapted and directed by Michael Whitmore, the play faithfully charts the enchanting, fabulous and wonderful world created by Carroll, retaining all its quirky British charm, classic characters and comedic poems in a true theatrical treat for all the family.

At 6pm, the company present a brand new production of Shakespeare's most magical and enchanting romance, The Tempest. On a remote island, Prospero, the Duke of Milan, plots to restore his daughter Miranda to her rightful place using illusion, magical spirits and manipulation. He conjures up a tempest to lure his usurping brother Antonio and the complicit King Alonso of Naples to the island. But for those who are shipwrecked, trickery abounds, romance blossoms and monsters lurk in dark corners of his magical island.

Samantha Watson, Marketing and Business Development Manager for Camberley Theatre said: "The atmosphere at last year's theatre in the park was terrific and it was wonderful to see everyone enjoying themselves in the lovely surroundings of Frimley Lodge Park. There is nothing more magical than sharing a picnic with friends and family and then just sit back, relax, and watch a play. I'll certainly be there as I cannot think of a better way to spend a summer's day."

Tickets for both productions are on sale now with adults £10 and children just £5, with a family ticket (for up to 2 adults and 4 children) priced at £25.

Tickets can be purchased online at www.camberleytheatre.biz Opens in a new window or by calling 01276 707600. This is an outdoor event and picnics and low-backed chairs are welcome.

A licensed bar and food outlets are also available on site. In the event of bad weather, the performances will move into Camberley Theatre.
