Rare films to be screened at the Fleet Air Arm Museum

Among the many thousands of records and artefacts at the Fleet Air Arm Museum are 775 films and videos some dating back to 1918.

As part of the national Museums at Night initiative, the Fleet Air Arm Museum's Curatorial Department has decided to screen some of these films on the evening of Thursday May 16, commencing at 7.30.

Among the films to be screened is one featuring the young Ralph Richardson before his Knighthood when he was a Royal Navy pilot.

Museum spokesperson Jon Jefferies, said: "This is a rare opportunity to see films taken in the formative years of the Fleet Air Arm. Seeing the old aircraft and ships in action brings them to life in a way which no static display can ever match."

Bar and restaurant open from 5.00pm. Tickets cost £5.00 and are available on line from www.fleetairarm.com, in the Museum ticket Box or on the door.
