SCHOOLS SET FOR GRAND SHOW

LIVE at the Grand Theatre Blackpool

Monday 8 to Thursday 11 February 2016

Blackpool Grand Theatre's renowned stage is about to put on their most exciting showcase of the year, where the talented Blackpool pupils are getting ready to perform.

Thanks to organisers the Blackpool Music Service and Blackpool Music Education Hub, Schools Alive is back this February 2016. Each school and academy in the town is offered the opportunity to perform on the same stage that has played host to a range of talented actors, comedians and musicians since the 1890s – a great experience for anyone who loves the arts.

The event will see 2,000 pupils from almost every Blackpool primary and high school perform in what has become a staple four-night show in The Grand’s calendar, with different schools taking part on different nights. Pupils, family, friends and teachers alike look forward to Schools Alive and the exciting opportunity to see the schoolchildren showcase a range of songs, dances, and musical numbers that they have been working hard to perfect throughout the school year.

Andrew Howard, Marketing Manager of Grand Theatre, said:

“The Grand is a community asset and it is really important to us that the local schoolchildren get to perform here. For many of the children taking part, Schools Alive is their first introduction to theatre and hopefully this positive experience will mean they continue to participate in performing arts in future. During Schools Alive week, the theatre is always buzzing – it’s the perfect opportunity for family, friends and schoolteachers to come together and enjoy a really great night out!”

Schools Alive takes place at the Grand Theatre from Monday 8 to Thursday 11 February, with tickets available from the box office on 01253 290190.
