Snowmen Required!

West Midland Safari Park have drafted in a team of snowmen to make sure that there is plenty of the white stuff around during the annual Santa Safari event that starts on Saturday, 23rd November 2013.

Despite a wintery chill being forecast, Santa thought it unlikely that any volume of snow would fall naturally. Therefore, the main man made a flying visit to the Park to make sure that their plans to use the latest technology and trained snowmen to deliver a winter wonderland in the Park's Discovery Trail was good enough. After all it would be his grotto for the month long event that sees the area transformed for the festive season.

Santa heard that it will take between 5 and 7 days to spray approximately 2000 kilos of the waterproof and windproof 'snow', onto

300 fir trees, grassed areas and buildings to create an impressive amount of snow resembling the kind of volume that he was used to back home - but, he wasn't convinced. Santa really did want this year to be the snowiest Santa Safari ever and decided that he would just have to take charge.

Head Snowman, Jamie Endres, said, "The work of a snowman is never done as every morning before visitors arrive to see Santa, the team have been instructed to inspect all snowy areas to make sure that the snow is deep and crisp and even. And, once Santa departs for the frozen north after 25th December, the snowmen at West Midland Safari Park will continue their quest once more - this time to wash and shovel the snow away until Santa visits again next year".

Now in it's eighth season, Santa Safari is open every day from Saturday, 23rd November until Christmas Eve and incorporates admission to the animal reserves, Discovery Trail and the African Village.

Children have their photo taken with Santa to take home, along with a gift of their choice. Whilst adults are not forgotten either, as a choice of Mulled Wine or Hot Chocolate and Mince Pie is also included in their ticket price.
