Stirling Castle to enjoy the sounds of Take That, The Script and the Stereophonics

Stirling Castle will be enjoying the sounds of Take That, The Script and The Stereophonics later this month.

They are amongst a number of artists whose songs are to be given the 'Heart of Scotland' choir treatment, when the singers and sopranos in red take to the stage at the castle's Great Hall later this month.

The choir, who first shot to fame on John Barrowman's 'Tonight's the Night' were formed by local singer and teacher, Annie Smart and her sister Jane Hamilton.

Dressed in their distinctive red outfits, the choir, which is made up of people from across Stirling, quickly developed a strong following with their unique take on contemporary songs and classics from artists ranging from Lady Gaga to Pink. Following the success of the adult choir a junior choir also followed mastering tracks in three part harmony from Katy Perry to Little Mix!

The 'Heart of Scotland' choir will be performing their first castle show on Friday, 30th August. The show also marks another first for the choir - and the audience - with the adult choir and the junior choir singing together for the first time on a couple of tracks.

Annie Smart said;

"We are thrilled to be performing at the castle, in the stunning surroundings of the Great Hall.

"We have been working on some new material for the castle concert, including a few unexpected numbers which is really exciting, but there will also be some familiar favourites that people love to hear.

"One of other really nice things about the castle concert is that the junior and the adult choir will be performing together for the first time. In some cases, there are three generations of the same family performing so it will be a really special night for all those that are taking part and we are really looking forward to performing at what I am sure will be a great evening."

Tickets are available now from the Historic Scotland website, www.historic-scotland.gov.uk, in person from the castle, or on the door on the night. Family tickets and concessions available.

Castle gates open at 6.30pm with the concert beginning at 7.30pm. The castle are also running a bar service pre-concert and during the interval.
