Take on a really wild challenge in 2017 with ZSL!!

Race, dive or streak and help conservation charity ZSL work for wildlife!

Fancy practicing your butterfly-stroke, running with the pack, or facing fire to help wildlife? Then ZSL has a challenge for you in 2017.

With a whole host of trials to take on throughout the year, international conservation charity ZSL (the Zoological Society of London) is calling on fearless fundraisers to help protect animals around the world by taking part in one of its many events.

Marathon-runners and park-sprinters alike can prepare to join the pack at the wildest run in London, the ZSL Stampede at ZSL London Zoo on Sunday 26 March. Starting in the Zoo, the run passes some of the world’s most incredible animals before heading out into Regent’s Park.

Runners of all abilities can put their best foot forward to help wildlife, as alongside the 10k there’s a new 5k option, and if March is a little too soon there’s a second Stampede on Sunday 17 September.

Brand new for 2017, the ZSL Zoo to Zoo Bike Ride will see cyclists pushing their pedals for wildlife on a Sunday morning ride. Starting at ZSL London Zoo in Regent’s Park and finishing at ZSL Whipsnade Zoo near Dunstable, riders will head north out of London onto the open roads of Hertfordshire, before ending up in the middle of the beautiful Bedfordshire countryside.

The ride is suitable for speedy spinners and freewheeling fundraisers alike, and with two distances to choose from, 35 or 50 miles, the bike ride will be fun for both novices and pros.

If getting your kit off seems like the ultimate in bravery when it comes to fundraising, cheeky challengers can unleash their inner animals and run as nature intended at ZSL’s Streak for Tigers event at ZSL London Zoo on Thursday 10 August.

Inspired by the name for a group of tigers - a streak - those who dare to bare will make a dash around the heart of the Zoo to help raise big cash for big cats.

Happier in the water? Make like a penguin and show off your flippers in ZSL’s Swim for Wildlife. On Saturday 26 August, ZSL will be taking over Grade-II listed Parliament Hill Lido for an exclusive Saturday evening swim to support ZSL’s work with marine species.

Super swimmers will be able to choose from three lanes, slow, medium or fast, and the event will start with a special children’s swim from 7-7.30pm, before adults can take the plunge from 7.40pm for an hour.

If that sounds a little chilly, turn up the heat at ZSL’s Fire Walk at ZSL London Zoo on Thursday 9 November. This red-hot challenge will see fearless firewalkers prowl barefoot across smouldering coals.

ZSL also has a limited number of places in events throughout the year, including skydiving, Vitality London 10k, Ride London, and marathons including Brighton and London’s Royal Parks.
