Twycross Zoo to throw roarsome dinosaur party this bank holiday weekend

Twycross Zoo News - Dino PartyExcitement is building at Twycross Zoo in Leicestershire as zoo staff prepare to throw a gigantic three-day party for visitors, to say farewell to their dinosaurs!

On Saturday 24th, Sunday 25th and bank holiday Monday 26th August the zoo will stay open until 9pm with a jam-packed schedule of fun and entertainment for the ultimate family day out!

Sharon Redrobe, Zoological Director, commented: "Following the remarkable success of Summer Sundown, a weekend of live music and entertainment to celebrate the Zoo's 50th at the end of July, we're gearing up for spectacular Dinosaur Party this August bank holiday weekend.

"We've packed all three days with lots of extra free activities to keep the kids entertained, including a dinosaur egg hunt, garden games, a children's disco and magician. There'll also be a bouncy castle, stegosaurus slide, candy cart, beer and barbecue tent and lots more! We're putting on extra animal talks in the evenings, keeping all food outlets open late and offering £5 pound entry after 5pm for those only wishing to spend the evening with us."

For the evening the Zoo will offer £5 entry per person after 5pm on each day (under 3s £1). A children's disco will start at 5pm on all three days with fun games such as the hokey cokey and musical statues, and a magic show will take the musical entertainment up until 8pm.

WIN! A free-to-enter fancy dress competition will also take place each day. Children aged 16 and under who 'Dress up like a Dinosaur' can be in with a chance of winning a Junior Keeper for the Day (first prize), a penguin encounter for up to four people (second prize) and ice cream for a family of four (third prize)! Participants should sign up for the fancy dress competition at the disco no later than 7.00pm - participants will be judged and winners announced at the end of the disco.

Dinosaur Valley opened to the public on 29th March 2013 and has proved extremely popular with visitors. May Day bank holiday saw visitor numbers soar to their highest in almost a decade.

Sharon went on to say: "As for what will replace Dinosaur Valley; we'll be revealing our new plans for the zoo in the near future!"
