About The Tolbooth Museum
The Tolbooth Museum in Aberdeen is not only one of the best-preserved 17th century gaols in Scotland, but is also one of Aberdeen's oldest buildings. The museum has a brilliant display of local history and the development of crime and punishment through the centuries. With its atmospheric 17th and 18th century cells, original doors and barred windows, visitors can experience and gain insight into imprisonment and the treatment of prisoners and rebel Jacobites in the past.
