About The Guildhall
Dating back over 600 years, the Guildhall is a fantastically preserved timber framed hall and has had many purposes over the centuries. From being a meeting place for the gentry in the 14th century to the Town Library in the 17th century, to the headquarters of the local police in the 19th century and so much more, this building is steeped in a fascinting history which can still be seen to this day. Today, the hall is mainly used as a music venue for acts from all over the country, and as a museum where the story of this building can be relived.
