On Sunday, 13th January at 2.30.p.m. actress Judy Cornwall from 'Keeping Up Appearances', will be launching a new service at the Bluebell Railway. This will be formal morning coffee or afternoon tea, served in two beautifully restored Lounge Cars.
The first one to come into service will be 3064, a first class carriage, built in 1955 for duties on the fabulously luxurious Boat Trains serving the Ocean Liners such as the RMS Queen Mary and the RMS Queen Elizabeth, at Southampton. Soon to be added is Car 4824. This was used from 1959 as quality second-class Restaurant Car accommodation and will now provide a more relaxed Country Class experience.
With the service of refreshments served aboard these superbly restored carriages, passengers will be transported back to a bygone era of train travel.
The new service will run most weekends between 13th January and 24th March on the 11.a.m. and 3.p.m. departures from Sheffield Park. It is advisable to book for this service as there will be no guarantee that accommodation in these cars will be available. Seats are priced at £25 for the First class Lounge Car and £20 for the Country Class.
