It's going to be a fun-packed Spring at Knebworth House

Knebworth House starts the new visitor season on Saturday 22nd March with weekend openings. Visitors can enjoy early spring blossoms and blooms in the Garden then step out for a bracing walk in the Park, followed by a cup of tea and some delicious home- made cakes in the Garden Terrace Tea Room.

Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th April, the East of England Food Festival will showcase all that’s good to eat and drink from across our region. Pick up some tips from top TV chef Sophie Grigson who will be demonstrating over the weekend. Visitors can save 10% on ticket purchases by booking online via the Knebworth House website.

Ladies from Filamenti, the needlework group based at the Letchworth settlement, have been busy over the winter months. Inspired by their visit to Knebworth House last year, the group have taken Knebworth’s rich textiles and furnishings as inspiration for their own work to create a fascinating exhibition of embroidered textiles. The exhibition will be on display throughout April and May in the House, which is included in the House admission ticket.

Make a note in your diary to visit Knebworth this Easter. On Good Friday and Easter Saturday, 18/19th April, there is a popular children’s Easter trail. For just £1 children can buy a trail sheet from the Knebworth gift shop and then have fun completing the trail around the gardens to claim a reward.

On Easter Sunday and Monday 20-21st April, the Knights of Arkely will be jousting in front of Knebworth House. The turrets and towers of Knebworth House provide a spectacular backdrop to the action. Costumed  knights on majestic warhorses gallop at full tilt across the arena in a fantastic display of horsemanship. Knights demonstrate their skills in hand to hand combat to the delight of the crowds who are encouraged to cheer, and jeer, their favourite knights. There are two scheduled jousting displays on both days at about 12.30 and 2.30 pm, depending on the weather. There is no additional charge to see the jousting which is included in the Park and Gardens admission ticket.  It’s a fantastic value day out - for just £9 per person, families can enjoy a day at  the Park, Fort Knebworth and the Adventure playground, the delightful Gardens and Dinosaur trail plus the jousting.

Martha Lytton Cobbold, Managing Director of Lytton Enterprises commented; As we see the first snowdrops, we know spring is on the way. There is a lot going on at Knebworth in 2014. In addition to the busy event calendar, much has been added to the Rose Gardens and also to the the water play area in the Adventure Playground. We are pleased to say that admission prices have been held and of course our Season Ticket scheme offers great value.”

On open days, the treasures of Knebworth House can be explored for a small additional charge.  Parking is free and there is plenty of space for picnics.

Knebworth is open to visitors at the weekends 22/23rd March, 29th/30th March, and then daily for the Easter holidays from 5th – 21st April.  Full details of spring events, opening times and dates together with online ticketing can be found at www.knebworthhouse.com
