Rascal and Rogues Unleash Their Charms on The York Dungeon

This half term, 23rd-31st May, The York Dungeon will be taken over by a new interactive show as charming ‘rascals and rogues’, who will be trying to recruit new members for their mischievous gang!

Visitors will be winding their way through the backstreets of York as they step into a dark and eerie world. The Dungeon’s local constable will show them ‘Wanted’ posters, introducing the rebellious rogues and tell tales of their troublesome behaviour.

The warning will not prepare for the guests for a surprise meeting with Samuel Gregory – leader of the notorious Gregory Gang! Confident, quick, brash and full of beans, Samuel’s dreams are as big as his ability to entice innocent victims to his fearless mob.

They will be taken to the secret meeting point for Gregory Gang members, the Old Cock Inn, the potential recruits must be on their guard. These charming and devious characters are going to take visitors on a thrilling adventure and give them the skills to ‘hold up’ a carriage and become the ultimate rascal.

Following their encounter with Samuel, guests will continue to meet some of history’s most infamous rascals be swept away by their charms and lured into a world of criminal escapades. Guests can meet Dick Turpin, the most infamous English highwayman who was renowned for poaching, burglary, horse theft and murder, alongside an amazing cast of theatrical actors and special effects.

Helen Douglas, General Manager at The York Dungeon, said: “History has revealed many exciting tales of loveable rogues and ruthless rascals and we are very excited to draw on their antics for our latest attraction. Guests will be swept away by our charming rogues and could well end up as their latest recruit to their gang. Don’t say we didn’t warn you!”

And because it’s half term, guests can expect even darker, scarier and more twisted behaviour from the cast of history’s most notorious characters. From Guy Fawkes to Henry VIII, visitors to the Dungeon will meet a variety of familiar faces as they journey through 13 shows that are profiled at the popular attraction.
