Romancing the Zoo

Saturday 15 February to Sunday 23 February 2014

Delve into the world of wildlife matchmaking at ZSL Whipsnade Zoo this half term, as Romancing the Zoo takes a look at love in the animal kingdom.

From the most spectacular mating battles to the subtlest of courting rituals, a host of interactive talks and feeds will be revealing the secrets of animal dating.

From wolves which pair up for life, to cricket couples who can mate up to 40 times a day, learn all about budding romances at the Zoo and discover just how they differ from human courtship.

Visitors are also being encouraged to spare some love for the less cute and cuddly creatures this half term, including cockroaches, which are a shining example of critters mating for life.

And there’ll be the chance to pay a visit to some of Whipsnade’s newest arrivals, including three-month-old Asian elephant Max and reticulated giraffe calf Willow, born last November.

With daily Sealion Splash and Birds of the World demonstrations back in full swing, and more fun to be had at the Zoo’s indoor and outdoor Hullabazoo play areas, there’s something for the whole family to enjoy at ZSL Whipsnade Zoo this half term.

Beat the queues and book tickets online now for Romancing the Zoo. Visit www.zsl.org for opening times and ticket prices.
