Spooky Hallowe'en fun at Bodiam Castle

Visitors who are brave enough will enjoy watching the 'Crime, Punishment & Medieval Surgery' event on 26 and 27 October 2013.

Join "Happening History" for a gruesome weekend, with gory talks and demonstrations on medieval surgery and learn about the horrific fate of medieval criminals.

The Castle's popular Hallowe'en Trail also returns between 26 October and 1 November. There is a mystery to be solved by those who are brave enough to enter the castle at this bewitching time. Come along between 11am and 3pm to hunt down the clues around the castle and solve the Hallowe'en mystery before claiming your prize. Normal castle admission applies plus a small charge of £2 per child.

All Souls' Weekend on 2 and 3 November is an interactive ghost hunt inside the castle for anyone aged 16 or over who is brave enough to visit the castle after dark and solve the mystery of the Red Lady.

Those bold enough to enter the castle must solve the mystery of the Red Lady if they wish to escape the Castle with their nerves and wits intact. Join in for an evening that you won't forget that's part theatre, part adventure game. Wear warm dark clothing and sturdy shoes, bring a torch. Two hunts take place at 5.30 and 8pm and everyone should meet in the car park next to the Wharf Tea Room. Admission is £12 for this event and booking is essential.

Visitors can spend all day exploring the extensive castle ruins and attractive grounds. See the castle's original wooden portcullis in the Gate House and discover the battlements and towers with their stunning views over the Sussex countryside.

In the Castle shop visitors can browse a range of gifts and produce, including Bodiam wine and local honey.

After your visit why not relax in the Wharf tea-room and enjoy some of the delicious seasonal treats such as light lunches and homemade cakes on offer.
