In spring 2016, popular tourist attraction, The York Dungeon, is set to re-open and promises to bring back some of its popular shows as well as introduce one very big and spectacular surprise for visitors.
Guests should prepare to be accused of witchcraft and burned at the stake in the notorious witches show, and they should get their anti-bacterial gel at the ready when they find themselves in the Doctor’s Surgery of 1551, just when the plague was rife.
Not forgetting the notorious local highwayman, Dick Turpin and the infamous mastermind behind the gunpowder plot, Guy Fawkes, who began his life in York in 1570 and will regale visitors with his tale of what really happened beneath the Houses of Parliament that fateful November night.
All these shows and more - which bring together an amazing cast of theatrical actors, special effects, stages and scenes in a truly unique and exciting walkthrough experience that you can see, hear, touch, smell and feel – will be back by popular demand. However, they will be completely refreshed so whether you’ve never been before or are a returning visitor, shocks, surprises, scares and laughs are all guaranteed.
Operations Manager at the York Dungeon, Andrew Turner, comments: “Our attraction was affected by the floods in York in December last year and during its peak we were surrounded by a metre of water. But since then we’ve been really busy working behind the scenes to get some exciting new plans underway for our re-launch in spring.
“Guests can be reassured that their favourite shows will be back but with a fresh new twist, and we’ve also got one incredible new addition that we can’t wait to start shouting about – all will be revealed very shortly!”
